Updates, Facebook, and my summer vacation

April 13th, 2009 by katycat

It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of facebook.  I find it unwieldy, counterintuitive, and completely unlike everything else on the internet (and not in a good way).  But we’re there now, so for those of you who do like Facebook - you can now become a fan and follow this blog from your facebook home page.  Also, due to my lack of Facebook skills, I’d love for someone who does understand Facebook to take over maintainership of that page - just let me know if you’re interested!

In other website news, the Links and Press Releases have been updated - check it out!

Lastly, I (Katy) will be attending the University of Massachusetts Boston for an MA in Historical Archaeology, starting in Fall 2009. Before I get there, I’m heading to Iceland to help with the Skagafjordur Archaeological Settlement Survey. (Not to worry, I’ll keep you informed of all the awesome adventures I get up to.) This means LAF may be in need of a new web guru in the coming months! If you have some html skills, please consider volunteering.

HIS188: Field Techniques in Archaeology

April 4th, 2009 by katycat

Once again, Dr. Clark will be offering HIS188: Field Survey Techniques in Archaeology this summer, through Northern Virginia Community College’s Historic Preservation Department. The course meets twice weekly in the evenings from May 18 through June 29. The course includes a basic introduction to archaeological field work, and most class sessions will meet in the field at local Loudoun County sites, including Claude Moore Park, Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve, downtown Leesburg, and others. Registration is open to everyone! Please visit Northern Virginia Community College for information about registration and tuition.

Welcome!
