Paper: The Carolina Road

LAF is proud to present a new research paper: The Carolina Road by Tom Hyland (PDF, 256 kb). The paper presents an in-depth look at the history of roads in Colonial America, followed by a comprehensively researched exploration of the Carolina Road (now Route 15) through Virginia over three centuries.

FORGOTTEN: A Preliminary Report on the Sycolin Road Pottery: Loudoun County’s Historical Mystery of a Pottery, Pots, and Potters by Amy Bertsch, Amanda Ackman, Tom Hyland, et al (PDF, 291 KB). This paper describes how members of the LAF, in cooperation with Northern Virginia Community College, uncovered the probable identity of potters working in the nineteenth century along Sycolin Road.
