Paper: The Sycolin Road Pottery

FORGOTTEN: A Preliminary Report on the Sycolin Road Pottery: Loudoun County’s Historical Mystery of a Pottery, Pots, and Potters by Amy Bertsch, Amanda Ackman, Tom Hyland, et al (PDF, 291 KB). This paper describes how members of the LAF, in cooperation with Northern Virginia Community College, uncovered the probable identity of potters working in the nineteenth century along Sycolin Road.

    Thanks! this report reflects the substantial work efforts of a number of people over the last four years. It demonstrates what cooperatve sharing of research information can lead to. This report will change as additional information is acquired (e.g. we are currently researching the relationships between the Gardner/Duncan and Orrison families in furthering an understanding the pottery and other familial business partnerships in the early 19th century).
